While recognition is important for obvious reasons; there is one outstanding issue that everyone seems to ignore. That is meaningful benefits for asbestos exposed employees. Why did the DOE purposefully exclude asbestos from the original EEOICA? When they did include asbestos, they installed so many exclusions and requirements that they knew would exempt them from paying. Those of us who are diagnosed with Asbestosis, Pleural Asbestos Disease, Lung Cancer,or Mesothelioma will undoubtedly die from our exposures. That is a fact that all of us live with each and every day. Just the stress of knowing we will die from our exposure alone is more than enough for compensation. Compensation: "To make up for or offset. To make satisfactory payment or reparation to." Reparation: "The act or process of making amends". Amends: "To make up (to someone) for insult or injury." These are definitions. It is medically impossible to make a prognosis on any asbestos related disease. No one in the medical community can forecast when asbestos will kill its' victims. The Government knew in the 1940's that asbestos would most likely cause cancer. The DOE; in its' initiation of the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Act, obviously did the financial research on asbestos. In my opinion, they excluded asbestos initially because they knew the cost of their secrecy. I have fought with them, the DOL and Congressmen to no avail. I actually was told by my Senator Mike Crapo that his office will not deal with asbestos related cases. The DOL tells me that unless I have incurred a loss they will not pay. Here's my point; I am viewing this as a quality of life issue. There is NO medical doubt that; notwithstanding I am killed in a freak accident, Asbestos Pleural Disease will be my Cause Of Death. The key question is when. Since Medicine cannot predict when; only that it will, the DOL/DOE will pay upon my death. What possible reparation will that be for my widow? How will the payment to her then "make up" for my injury. I strongly contend that since the payment is inevitable anyway, why don't they be proactive and pay me now. In that case there will be reparation, in the form of the quality of life I and my family and loved ones could enjoy; for what ever time I have left. No one; including International Unions, seems interested in championing this cause. How many exposed workers have died to date; and are their survivors happy? HELL NO! Are we insulted at being thrown into the quagmire of the political arena; at our expense? HELL YES! We need some help. Who will step up?

Please check your facts, try a square block of cars 1/8th to 1/4qt mile out of town. people could go back to their homes after 7:30 AM Friday. Picture is accurate. What does this have to do with natural gas or any kind of gas?

The conversion of household waste to motor fuel is a great idea if it can gain some traction. Santa Fe, Texas is a small community located about 40 plus miles south of the 4th largest city in the U.S.(Houston, Texas) in Galveston, County. Located in the surrounding locals are at least six major refineries, also in the same local are several sanitary land fills. A recent news article stated that a new land fill was needed in neighboring Brazoria, County, a reader wrote in and suggested that a recycle facility be constructed instead. While viewing a environmental program it was stated that motor fuel could be produced from about any organic substance, therefore a letter was writen to the local paper indicating build a motor fuel facility instead. Knowing around the world there are modern sanitary facilities designed to separate household waste adding an additional processing plant for motor fuel should be no big deal. With an endless feed supply of waste someone in Texas should make it happen. But in the real world the major refiners and their near trillion dollars in profits will in all likely hood see that it wo'nt happen.

The Paper Industry does not appear to be recognized in the Industry/Topic category for OSHA publications. In fact no where in the new web page can I find the Paper Industry being mentioned. Is the reason for this the lack of involvement from our industry?
